H1N1 Flu Update and ResourcesOur school system continues to operate on a regular schedule, during both the regular and extended school days. We continue to monitor flu-like symptoms, promote good hygiene practices with students and staff, and maintain ongoing communications with parents and the Worcester County Health Department. Vaccination clinics for H1N1 have been held at Ocean City, Pocomoke, and Showell Elementary Schools; Pocomoke and Stephen Decatur Middle Schools; and Pocomoke, Snow Hill, and Stephen Decatur High Schools. Clinics at Buckingham and Snow Hill Elementary Schools; Berlin Intermediate School; and Snow Hill Middle School have been scheduled. All clinics will have been completed by November 13, 2009. All students receiving an H1N1 vaccination submitted a parental consent form prior to its administration. Members of the Worcester County Health Department have met or are scheduled to meet with staff in reference to the H1N1 Flu. The purpose of the meetings has been to provide faculty with information on the vaccination process, to answer questions, and to reinforce best-practices for H1N1 and Seasonal Flu prevention. All faculty presentations will have been conducted by November 12, 2009. Through a book bag distribution, all parents received a letter from Worcester County Health Department's Deputy Health Officer Dr. Andrea Mathias. The letter served to inform parents of the current status of H1N1 in Worcester County. In addition, parents received a Guide for Parents, produced by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
